The Repulse Bay is Hong Kong Island's most popular beach easily accessible by bus or taxi from Central. Repulse Bay also offers a good selection of shopping and entertainment facilities. The ornate Life Guard Club was built in a traditional Chinese style and its' ceilings are decorated with magnificent swirling dragons.
On the sandy beach you can find the Sea View Tower of Chinese ancient color, inside which there are images of Tin Hau (the Queen of Heaven and Protector of Seafarers) and Goddess of Mercy, Avalokitesvara more than ten meters high. Beside it, there is a Bridge of Longevity across which the image of Yuexia Laoren (the god of matchmaker) is there with a conjugal felicity stone beside him.
With its lush green, sub-tropical backdrop and breathtaking views over sandy beaches, the area is an ideal place for a romantic dinner under the stars. Several open-air restaurants nearby specialize in the joys of wholesome barbecued food, including the freshest prawns, squid, fish and other seafood delicacies. |
